If you want to build a small reinforced concrete structure yourself, an earth sheltered house, a heavy retaining wall, an elevated slab, you run into the same wall I did. Structural engineers charge thousands for the design alone. And every concrete textbook is written for people who will design bridges and towers, not for the do-it-yourself builder working with a crew of one or two.
